PITCH KUNSTWERK SCHEGPARK
Artist Aukje Dekker was selected to develop a pitch for the Schegpark. The park, located behind the EYE film museum, should be provided with a sculpture that activates and connects the neighborhood. An iconic sculpture with international allure for the public space.
Dekker: 'I started my tricks here 15 years ago; I have experienced gentrification and become part of it. North has a history of projected utopias. From the Garden Villages to Gool's plan; all spatial fantasies about a better coexistence.
What still makes us think in a time when everything is available and the world is on fire? Everyone talks about a community, but are we still able to build one?
I thought what we need is not passive but active, not static but dynamic. With shared ownership, intergenerational and dependent on the participation of the neighbourhood. Taking care and letting people experience how other beings can give us something in return, moving away from the anthropocentric lifestyle of humans and not seeing humans, but our entire ecosystem, as the centre. So here it is: the fantastic chicken coop for 15 chickens!'
chicken DREAM
A well designed chicken-coop that foresees in all the needs and provides all the luxury that a chicken may desire.
